I had a wonderful experience staying at this 'albergue privado' in Galicia. the beautifully restored farmhouse provided a peaceful setting for my stay. Jaime, the owner, was a charming host and cooked us a delicious dinner. Sharing the meal with the peregrinos and hearing their stories was a highlight. the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was impressive with a great shower, and the common areas were lovely. the kitchen was well-equipped and clean. I will definitely stay here again when I visit Galicia. Thank you, Jaime!

The location of this albergue is absolutely stunning, situated in the beautiful Galician countryside. the rooms are comfortable, with warm covers and large showers providing enough warm water for everyone. the host goes above and beyond, offering an excellent dinner with dishes like lentil soup, potato tortilla, and a fresh salad. there is a pool and hammocks in the garden, perfect for relaxing after a long day on the Camino.
Some other aspects of the hotel could be improved, such as the variety of breakfast options.

I had a wonderful, relaxing evening at this fine alberques. The owners have created a unique hotel that has been lovingly restored to a very high standard. The room was spacious and the beds were sturdy with linens supplied. The hot showers were refreshing and the homemade hot dinners were delicious. The fully stocked fridge and pool were great amenities. One highlight was when they did all of my washing for me. Even though there wasn't a proper check-in process, the owners showed me to my bed and disappeared after dinner. I had to stamp my own book and leave cash on the side for extras, but overall, it was a minor inconvenience. The husband and wife who own and run the albergues were cute and cooked a scrumptious meal that we all enjoyed together. The location, right on the Camino, was perfect. The word is out about this place, so be sure to reserve a bed in advance during the high season. Despite the slight discrepancy in the distance from the previous town, it was definitely worth the extra steps. The noise from the nearby A-8 motorway was minimal and hardly noticeable. I highly recommend Albergue O Xistral for a fantastic stay on the Camino del Norte.

The room at Albergue O Xistral was just perfect for our family! It had a kitchenette with a fridge, dishwasher, and microwave which made it super convenient for making quick meals. We even found a toaster and an electric kettle in the dormitory room, so we could enjoy a nice cup of tea in the mornings. It felt like a cozy little home away from home!
I'm not much of a toaster person, so that feature didn't really excite me. But hey, I'm sure some people love having toast in the morning!

We had an amazing time at this albergue! the location was perfect, right on the Camino route, and the house itself was stunning. the rooms were beautifully designed in a rustic modern style, and the bathrooms were impressive with multi-use shower heads. the common area had a cozy fireplace and comfortable chairs, perfect for relaxing after a long walk. the kitchen was well-equipped and clean, and the breakfast was delicious. We also loved the pool and the welcoming atmosphere created by the owners.
It's a bit pricier than other hostels along the Camino, but the experience is definitely worth the extra cost.
